Metal Musician Peter Kubik Dies by Suicide

Heavy steel musician Peter Kubik, of Austrian black steel band Abigor, has died by suicide, in accordance with a press release from his bandmates.

Kubik fashioned Abigor with multi-instrumentalist Thomas Tannenberger in 1993. The pair have been later joined by vocalist Tharen (Alexander Opitz), who finally left the band and was changed by Silenius (Michael Gregor). Metallic Injection notes that Kubik performed on each Abigor album from their 1994 debut Verwüstung / Invoke the Darkish Age by way of their most up-to-date document, Taphonomia Aeternitatis – Gesänge im Leichenlicht der Welt, launched in 2023.

Over on Abigor’s Fb, many followers are sharing recollections and memorials of Kubik, with one individual writing, “I bear in mind listening to ‘Scars within the Panorama of God’ for the primary time on the Blackend compilation cd, again within the 90’s. Took me to different dimensions as a teenager. Thanks for Supreme Immortal Artwork too, a masterpiece. My honest condolences. RIP.”
